Hi All,

I have bought around 600-700 pounds worth of new rugs for my horse

Do you put your postcode onto your rugs with gloss paint?

I am aware there are a lot of stables loosing rugs like hotcakes at the moment so do you think this is a good idea, I just feel criminal doing it to my new rugs but if they are not stolen I feel I should.

Your thoughts would be great.

I was recommended to use boat paint by my local Horsewatch scheme, waterproof and flexible.

I just slapped on whatever gloss I had lying around the place, lasted for years, the rugs fell to bits before the paint died.

I think its a very good idea if you have spent that much on rugs, they cant be cheap per rug at that price so you should mark them.

Yes, several reasons.

Obviously the theft deterrent, ID if horse escapes and it avoids yard mix-ups too (the "Oh sorry, I thought that was my rug" thing)

I used to put a contact number on there too. If a horse goes walkabouts and is found, a postal code alone isn't actually a huge amount of help
