Loads of rugs sales on at the mo and need to get my girl kitted out for the winter. starting from scratch so need a turn out, stable and underrug. Anyone recommend good brands, hard wearing etc. I know you te what you pay for but I would like peoples oppinions. Got a bucas as year - ripped first day, and pippa funnel stable rug is treadbear after one season!

What are you thoughts? What are weatherbeeta like?

Like you - new horse needed a wardrobe. I bought.

1 x Mark Todd LW Turnout Rug
1 x Rambo Duo plus additional liner of 100g
1 x Mark Todd MW Stable Rug
1 x Thermatex

I allready had a cotton coller and a Rambo fleece.

For me if it has Rambo or Horseware on the label - I know I am buying quality. This is the first time I've bought Mark Todd rugs, but they seem to be good value.

The idea is that he will live in the Rambo Duo, but the stable rug is a back up.

I have always brought Weatherbeeta and would not buy anthing else as they are fab...long lasting, water proof, wind proof and fit well!

Hey weatherbeeta are good..although I bought the wrong size...my chap has grown over the summer and is now 16.1hh ekk...
Got many rambos cause I just love them, but bought my old girl a fal which is really good...very impressed...
would like to know thoughts on bucus if poss too...

rambo/horseware all the way,
but i did buy a marktodd under rug combo in a sale, to use as MW stable rug, which was a cheap option. i always look to layer, its cheaper, and the individual components can be put in the washing machine!!

I have a HW Masta - cost me £49
MW weatherbeeta - cost me £45
Lightweight crappy saxon but good back-up - £30
Loveson waffle cooler - £15 will be used as under-rug in stable

Those are my new season buys.

From last year I have a 200gm Kingshead lines/stable rug - £9.99 - complete STEAL ebay!

Thats it. I need to get some stable rugs this year as last year I had no stable but otherwise Im pretty happy with my rugs, even the cheap saxon holds up well..!

I sent one of mine off on loan with Amigo's as they fit her big chest well and are fab value for money. My new mare has been kitted out in Fal! I've got a fair bit of redundancy pay so i spent it on a few top quality rugs yesterday. I got a Commando duo which is basically the same as the Rambo Duo, fab as the under rug goes with the stable or turnouts. I got a Medium weight turnout with neck and i'll get a medium- heavy stable rug to go over the under rug. I think they'll last her as you do pay for quality, they fit her a treat too. I also rate Mark Todd and Horseware Rhino, i'm a bit be-grudged to pay Rambo prices,i only got the Fal's as my tackshop were doing a v.good offer on them.

I love Weatherbeeta's (the Orican, Arion and Taka kinds, hate the Landa!). But have just bought my first Rambo (Duo) which seems good so far.

If I were starting from stratch (I have millions of damn rugs....) Id probably buy:

Turnout - Rambo Duo. with whatever under-rug weights you want. I think you could probably a liner under a stable rug if need be as well.
Stable Rug - I love my Rhinegold Kentucky combo. Its so cosy and fits really well. I paid only £20 for it brand new.
Id also buy a Thermatex, unless you already have a cooler?
