Rules of The school?

Just out on interest does you yard have any rules to using there school? Our place has many rules!!!

1) When lunging you must wear a hat at all times
2) When Teaching you must wear a hat
3)when riding you must wear a hat at all times
4) Unless you have paid to book the school you cannot lunge then refuse access to other riders
5)left hand to left hand
6) if you are warming up use the inside track to allow others to trot
7) Put away jumps after you use them (unless it was a lesson in which case its intructors responsibilty)
8) Pick up poos from the school after you ride

PHEWWW so many rules!

No I agree they are sensible, just wondeirng if anyone has diferent rules or doesnt have any just interested

we have all those apart from lunging with a hat on but tbh there are only nine horses so we never want to be in there at the same time

Well I have never lunged without a hat so do it on autopilot now so dont really consider or even think about it!

Plus I dont want to be on the wrong side of the scary YO's wife

We all have to watch this tim stockdale DVD which I really enjoyed *recoment* lol put away jumps and poo pick. Cant leave the horses loose and walk off.

No official rules, but would be p****ed off if people left poo in the shcool. Plus we tend to do left hand to left hand unless one of the kids is in the school and then the adults just avoid them.

Well pickle is stabled at a riding school, so its lots of kids so rules are set so that people know where they stand. But I suppose in smaller yards people would just be told once the end

We only have three rules.

Put away your poles, turn lights off when finished and pick up any poo. When school was 1st put in we weren't allowed to lunge in it, but we soon all forgot that rule (Opps!!!). We don't have to wear hat in school, but do if riding round the grounds.

One is that people performing lateral movments have right of way.

ours are just, poo pick when you have finished, put jumps away, no turning out in the school,pass left to left and rake it over once in a while!

- If your jumping wear a body protector
- Pass left to left
- Walkers use inner track
- No Jumping and lunging at the same time in the school

Theres loads more general rules that apply wheather your ridin in the school or hacking.

We have no turn out in the school which is a bummer cos it would have been perfect for my mare and foals first hour out..

As for not lunging and jumping at the same time, well yes that really could be interesting! LOL!

The only one that's any different is no jumping when there's no-one else on the yard (which is very rare - usually only when everyone's gone off to a comp or hunting etc.) and no jumping xcountry without company

Rules of our school as far as I'm concerned are
1. When I'm riding, children who are building sand castles must leave.
2. If someone else is riding, they must not cross in front of jumps. I can ride well enough to avoid THEM even if they can't avoid ME (as long as I don't have to jump them!)
3. When I'm riding Antifaz and someone else is riding, they must not climb up his bottom (PF is more accomodating in this respect)

don't have a menage, but know of a yard which has rules that you must pick out feet before entering and leaving the school.

I think those rules are fair, and ensure's the yard is preventing accidents. The insurance is expensive now a days and i cant really blame them

Don't think there are any real rules except no loose schooling.

Also you can book it and that takes presidence. I think you might have to wear a hat as an under 14.

Gosh we dont have any rules for our indoor

Mind you there are only eight of us on the yard.

Most of what we use is common sense and its unsual that two of us are in the school at any one time.

The only ones we have are that you must put the jumps away after using them, must pick up any poos (although there are still some people who don't do this

) and the most recent - no horses left unattended in the school - mainly because when they dig the surface to roll they are pulling up the surface liner.

All we have to do is leave the school how we found it, left to left, and you must let other people in unless you've booked a lesson.
