Merlin was put to sleep at 7.50pm yesterday after an afternoon of pampering and eating in the field with his best equine friend Georgia.
Merl was my best friend, he was the only horse I have ever felt completely safe on, his antics never failed to make me smile, he was my horse of a life time and I loved him so, so much. The stressy, aggressive, dangerous to handle horse I brought turned into the most affectionate horse I have ever known, Merl would whinny every time he saw me and follow me round like a big dog. All he had needed was love, consistent handling and time to feel secure.
Sadly his spavin had deteriorated and he was very lame even on two bute a day and cortaflex, my vet felt that further treatment was not a option :(
Laura and I will miss you forever and you will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry. What a lucky horse he was to have you take him under your wing though. I know it is so desperately hard to say goodbye, but you did right by him. He'll always be in your mind and heart, and by your side wherever you are. ((((hugs)))) x

RIP Merlin, run free xx

So sorry for your loss, he sounds like a very special chap who was clearly loved. You did your very best for him, no horse can ask for more.

Hugs - JDx
