Grrrrr!
My horse is on box rest st the moment, and has been since the start of September. Currently, he comes out of the stable twice a day to be tied up outside the barn whilst I muck out etc.
This morning I was running a bit late. Tied him up as usual, and he was fine untill horses started being turned out. A pony was tied up round the corner from him, next thing I hear lots of activity... so run out of the barn to see the pony running off up the yard and my horse looking a bit excited, prancing about etc.
Anyway, this lady is claiming that my horse has overexcited the pony so its my fault the pony got loose. She said she couldnt even bring her horse out of the stable because she knew he'd run off with my horse being overexcited. She has demanded that I do not tie my horse up in that place again - difficult given that there are only 2 tie up places for our barn of 8 horses, and with my horse being in at the moment I have to tie him up so I can muck out etc.
I very bluntly stated that the incident was not my fault and that I will continue to tie my horse up where and when I need to. Although it may be the case that my horse over-excited the pony, it could have been the other way round as well - he was fine for the 20 minutes prior to the incident. Regardless of this, horses will be horses - they are not robots, and surely people shouldnt get hysterical from a relatively minor incident as this (the pony was caught a minute or two later, no harm done, didnt go off the yard onto the road etc)
Just wondered what other people would do - its not always possible to choose where to tie up on our yard as their are only limited spaces, and I dont feel I should have to inconvenience myself by mucking out with the horse in the stable - Im rushed enough as it is and never do as good a job mucking out with the horse in the way trying to escape!? And I dont feel other liveries should be telling me what I can and cant do, though obviously I dont want to cause any hassle.
Im hoping the whole incident will blow over, but this person is quite hysterical, and the pony was not hers, so I expect it will come back on me later on
