Anybody ever done this?

I’m musing. My local village hall used to hold a couple a year but I haven’t seen any advertised in a long time, so thought maybe I could arrange one! (And maybe more if it goes well?)

I’m thinking that proceeds should go to a horsey charity (however costs from hiring the hall would be deducted).
Charge £10 a table and maybe £1 to get in or something. Does this sound about right? There’s also a stage that I remember people using to display stuff for sale so not sure how I’d divide that up in terms of spaces/tables! Something to think about I guess.

I’d prefer to do this on an evening, maybe a Friday or Saturday but what times would you guys recommend? I’m thinking that people will need some time to set up/pack away too. How long do tack sales usually run for in your experience? I’m pretty sure it used to be:
Set up @ 6
Sale from 7-9pm
Pack away

Anything im missing?
Also any ideas welcome! Maybe I could find somebody local who’d want to sell some cupcakes or something there too

A lady used to run tack table sales near me. They were on a Sunday or Saturday and ran from 10 am - 4 pm I think. Tea/coffee /cakes available. Tables £10.00. I used to sell a mix of old and new stuff and usually did quite well.
If it is only 2 hours in the evening then it is a lot of effort to just set up and put away for 2 hours of possible sales.

Yes, I did one. Charged £10 a table. Made cakes and roped a couple of friends to do tea/coffee biscuits and squash in the kitchen. Didn't charge to get in but also ran a raffle so got people to buy tix. All in aid of our local hospital. The first hour was really busy then it dropped off after that. Our village hall had special rate if it was in aid of charity.

I’ve had a look and a lot of the tack sale events I see on Facebook are only 2/3 hours long. I’m happy to do longer! Depends on whether it’s a weekday or not really

Thanks! I’m definitely going to need to rope some people in if I’m going to do cakes and charge on the door! (Was kind of hoping to sell some of my own stuff there too ?)

I went to one this year to get rid of all my horse stuff when I gave up, it was run in aid of the local rescue.

£10 a table

Ran from about 7:30 to 9:30, however while the first hour was fairly busy people started packing up at 9ish as it was dead for the last part.

They had coffee and cake etc and it was well advertised eg local FB groups etc

I LOVE a tack sale. Our local RC as folk signed up to have a table/pitch, got the sellers to list and/or photograph what they had for sale (no prices just pics, sizing and descriptions). Then they updated the Facebook posts with these daily.

Got a lot of exposure and excitement driving a massive turnout of buyers.
