Finally I am in a position to sell my trailer and buy myself a nice little box.

I am torn between a 3.5 or a slightly larger van around 6 t. I have the relevant license to drive up to 7.5t and will generally be carrying one 16hh or two shetlands so 3.5 is probably going to give me enough payload. However I would like to have the opportunity for a nice living area as will stay away the odd time and would regularly be out at an all day show.

What are the running costs like between the different sizes, is there a massive difference in mpg and tax? General wear and tear I am thinking must be similar but I*don't want to buy something and then find I can't afford the fuel to get to where I want to compete

Not sure about the running costs as have only ever had a 5.6 tonne lorry. Couldn't do without the day living now I have it. Makes shows and outings so much more comfortable. I would think you could get a much better larger box for your money as the smaller ones are in so much demand for younger drivers. We had a look a while ago now my eldest is 21 and couldn't believe how much some quite shoddy 3.5 boxes are
