Running costs

In these hard times, we need to consider all options. Owning and running an event horse is so expensive especially for our younger riders. It is heartbreaking to have to sell for financial reasons but this is what a lot of people face at the moment.

I know a really good young rider, previous YR squad member, picked for the new BEF Foundation squad already who desperately needs some help. She has the horses, really lovely ones but is really struggling with running costs and the bank of mum and dad is running dry. She is really business like and is now looking for additional assistance.

Is there anyone out there who doesnt have the capital to buy the quality horse needed to get to the top, but who would like to join the team by providing help with running costs. It is so much fun to follow a particular horse, watch its development and feel part of it all.

Please PM me for further details and thank you so much.

why not contact local businesses, say the horse could compete in their name in return for £x per year? also, contact local press, they are always on the look out for this sort of story.
or, an ad in H&H might work wonders...
very best of luck.

She might do well to update her website and .pdf pack - saying the horse is unable to compete in 2008 doesn't give a very professional image as we are now in 2009 . . . .

Fair comment but most of it is bang up to date including blog and results etc! We have enormous trouble trying to keep this up to date in those parts which cannot be done by the rider. We are much better at it than many people! In any event, all due for a re-vamp asap! eg now based full time West Country.

Putting correct contact details may help too

OK, thank you. It also needs removing as its thoroughly out of date now. If anyone want to PM us, I will provide confirmation of the correct contact details.

I suspect you are not alone in hoping someone else may contribute towards running costs!!

The reality is that most people -however good (or bad!) they are - have to fund their own hobby or chosen sport.

There may be someone out there willing to help but I suspect they would be more likely to offer where the rider demonstrates her/his own commitment and passion through making her/his own representations..

Just a thought
