Hi All,

I'm thinking of running a few unaff dressage and SJ competitions over the summer alongside some clinics from my yard over the summer.

Does anyone know of any massive do's and don'ts? And also how do I go about finding judges??

Thanks
Jen

The big thing is insurance. I'm assuming you want to start fairly small and low key? Contact local RCs for names of judges / courdebuilders. You may not need BS / BD panel members if there are some GOOD unlisted people about. Whilst no one is going to be happy with bad judging for either discipline a poorly built course can be dangerous, so do check that anyone you use has the right experience. For SJ the equipment needs to be up to spec - frangible cups on back rails of spreads etc. A List of BD officials can be found on their website. For BS officials you may need to email them and ask. Final thing - don't forget the insurance!!

Yes am looking to offer competitions for nervous riders, those who can't afford to compete at the bigger venues!!!

I'm insured to run comps, have a fair bit of knowledge with regards to running stuff but just never gone it alone before!!!

If I run 'clear round days' over show jumping initially to entice the kids and novices in.

Will look up the officials and get in contact with them.

Thanks
Jen
