Runny Eyes

Hi Guys

Well, I've had Ty for 4 weeks today and I thought his runny eyes would clear up after getting him off straw. Not so!

I think I'll start soaking his hay but apart from that, is there anything else I can do to relieve them? The fluid is clear and the vet wasn't overly concerned....just looks horrible and must be annoying for him.

So any remedies etc?

The pony I used to loan got this in the summer where the long grasses were tickling and irritating his eyes, maybe a fly mask would help?

cold tea really helps, and it could be caused by flies so a fly mask could be a good investment

I've been mixing optrex with water to make a very dilute solution and wiping it over her eyes with a sponge. The runny/gunky eyes cleared up within a couple of days. I used to try and squeeze any clean excess into the eye.

One word of caution, i'm sure a vet wouldn't recommend this so you might want to check first.
