i have noticed recently that after a session where my mare has been worked hard, she has a snotty nose when we've finished. she never gets it after a relaxed hack or when shes not ridden, just when shes been worked hard. It is very white, and it goes within about 10 minutes of untacking her. is this something i should be worried about? thanks

Could just be her clearing her lungs, ever heard of the term 'pipe opener'? Trainers of race/ event horses often gallop them intensely with the intention of clearing mucus out of the lungs, seen as runny nose after work. If she doesn't get it at any other time then this is what it is, nothing to worry about, just her getting rid of the dust and stuff that naturally builds up in horses lungs from hay and bedding etc.

Don't worry, my mare gets EXACTLY the same thing (shes grey too, wierd

). Don't think its anything to worry about, just stuff out of her windpipe and nose i think, yuk!

Used to have a Blue Roan who did exactly the same, its jusst them getting rid of the mucus in their lungs and is nothing to worry about, probably a good thing rather than a bad!

My (strangely enough grey) gelding does this as well, so don't think you need to worry. Just keep an ear open for any coughing etc.
