My boy's been living out 24/7 for the past couple of weeks. Since last week I'v noticed he's snorted a white runny discharge that seems very watery from his nostrils and has a wheezy cough. I thought it may be a pollen allergy or something so bought him some Naf easy breathing liquid. Does anyone know what it could be as unsure whether it needs the vets attention or do you think it will pass in time? Many thanks

My boy has had this for a week or two as well. Vet's been out to check hacking dry cough and slight clear discharge from nose. Heart normal, pulse normal, temp normal, breathing normal, lungs normal, eating normally, drinking normally, working normally. He coughs standing in the field, in the stable, working, resting, hot and dry or cold and wet. Though it is less when it turns cold and wet. The vet has put him on a 7 day course of antibiotics just as a precaution and we're gonna try piriton of this doesn't work. TBH I suspect an allergy to tree/hedgerow pollen. He got the same cough the same time last year and last year was his first summer at the new yard. The new yard is much lower than the old yard which was halfway up a mountain with hardly any trees or hedgerows. We now have lush hedgerows and hawthorn blossom by the ton. Don't really want to ok a tracheal flush as it's too invasive for just a summer allergy. I think it will fade away as the tree blossom fades away, like it eventually did last year. Fingers crossed ! x
