Hi,
I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I ruptured a disc in my lower back yesterday :( Was getting Jasper ready to go on a fun ride when my back went. Reluctantly decided not to do the ride and staggered home. Took some pain killers and had a nap. When I woke up, OMG I have never known pain like it! I tried to stand up to go to the loo and everything went grey, I couldn't see and there was ringing in my ears. I literally couldn't move. It was terrifying.
Called the Doc out who gave me a tramadol injection and prescribed diazepam to relax the muscles and more tramadol tablets. He said the loss of vision and ringing in the ears was caused by the pain.
It's not as bad today, I can move (very slowly) and the tablets have helped, but it looks like I'll be out of the saddle for quite a while :(
Bit of a pointless post, but I wondered if anyone had any similar experiences and how soon they were back in the saddle? Maybe some healing vibes too??

Don't blame you for feeling sorry for yourself. Back pain is horrible.

I think a lot depends on where in your back it is and how badly it is bulging. Hopefully, it will resolve soon. You have my sympathy.

I've had a preferated viterbrae (sp) that resulted in really bad cyatica! I rode with it for about 18 months until I had surgery last October. My seat was never the same from one day to the next and the lad I was riding was great and really kind to me :D
I haven't ridden since due not having anything to ride but my new lad is coming by the end of the week so between us we will be taking it nice and easy :)

Ooo dear sounds very painfull. Hopefully it will be ok with a bit of time. It normally depends on how much of the disc has come out and whereabouts in your back it is :(. I had to have mine removed in December last year as it had come out so far and was impinging a nerve, very painful. But I am back in the saddle doing everything I was before. I just have to keep myself as fit as possible to keep my back strong.

Fingers crossed it won't come to that for you. I do feel for you tho, I remember the pain :(

Hope you feel better soon.

Xxx

I'm so sorry. I've some idea of the pain you are in. I broke my back in mid May and am still struggling. There is no way I could get on a horse, let alone ride one or get off >g<

You will need an MRI for a definitive diagnosis of a ruptured disc and if it is bad you may need an operation.

Try complete bed rest for three-four days, then get up. If you are still in a lot of pain get back to the GP and take it from there. Good luck.
