Had vet out to my mare tonight. He nerve blocked whole foot and she became 90% sound when lunged in trot. She has to go into the vet college tomorrow night for a coffin joint nerve block and x-rays on thursday. He says it could be a ruptured coffin joint - does anyone know anything about this and how it is treated (if it can be treated) and how long it takes to heal (if it ever will)?? Sorry for all the questions, just really worried about her. Any info good or bad will be really useful, thanks in advance.

My friend bought a v nice jumping mare 6 months later went lame did all tests eventually thought it was navicular but went for x rays anyway. Turns out shed chipped her coffin bone and bits of it were getting trapped in other parts of her foot causing the lameness. Only cure was an op and touch wood shes doing ok just in light work at the mo after 3 months of box rest. Apparently every horse has a bit of its coffin bone "floating" around but some it affects more than others.
