i cannot for the life of me find any info online - are they going to cause any issues if eaten dried? They eat them live out in the field & keep them down. We bale them and use them as bedding normally but this year that field has grown a lot more grass and the bales are more like meadow hay with some rushes in rather than the other way around so I’m thinking about trying feeding them... I assume they’ll either leave the rushes behind or reject the whole thing, but on the off chance they decide to eat them up are they likely to cause any issues?

do you know the species? 'Rushes' is a very broad catch-all term; some plants called that will be fine, some won't be. Certainly don't feed anything you aren't sure exactly what it is. If it's a juncaceae species, it will be ok, but it could be plenty of other things too....

Sorry yes it’s some variant of juncus
