Got my new horse on saterday and we have got on brilliantly, she is totally relaxed, have hacked her out and schooled her and she has been brill. However, i cant jump her at home as the ground is too slippy. So, we thought about taking her to my local equestrian centre on thursday- they have evening showjumping with a clear round at 2"3ft-2"6ft. We thought about going early before it starts properly to see what she is like and just jump the practice jumps, if she is ok do the clear round and then come home. I got on perfectly well when jumping her when i tried her and we jumped a course of about 6 jumps at 3"3ft, and a single 3"6ft fence, and we got on very well, but do you think it is rushing it to take her to a show so soon? it is a very relaxed atmosphere there, and there is never any more than 20 people there so it is very quite.

honest opinions please, quite nervous about posting this incase i get my head bitten off for even considering it, but i know someone who evented her horse only 3 days after she got him, and they are still doing very well 2 years on.

thanks

go for it! we only had our horse 2 weeks when we took him to a local show, again was quite relaxed atmosphere and ash jumped the clear round and done the adult nursery stakes HC as it was 2ft 3 so a nice height to start..10 months later she is jumping 3ft plus tracks and has affiliated him.

Take her!!

I had only had Alfie a week before taking him off to his first competition and he behaved impeccably. Im sure Tara will be just the same!! Im so pleased you are getting on with her so well, i bet Lizzie is missing her!!

yes i think lizzie is missing her, she couldnt say goodbye to us properly because she was crying, and got a text off her on saterday night saying she misses her already!

Thanks everyone, getting very excited now! lets just hope it doesn't snow too much!

Go for it! I took alisha out two weeks after I bought her on the sat and the sun to be a guinea pig for PTT students at the local college. Hasn't done us any harm! Have fun if you take her

Take her! It's best just to go with your gut instinct.

I took one of mine to PC camp a week after we got her but another we left for months before doing anything as she was inexperienced and needed time to settle in.

Take her, i took my old boy to a local show 3 days after having him and we totally cleared up...1st in everything, came home v embarrassed and thought we better affiliate!!

Have loads of fun, she looks stunning!
