Since moving yards the young horse has turned into a whirling dervish in the school, she wont walk at all, its just rush rush rush, which is a difficult one for me as I am still not 100% fit.

She will lunge with two lines, but even then it takes some work to get her to concentrate on anything other than going at a speedy canter and again she will only settle at the "gate" end of the school.

Any tips ?

I was thinking about putting her on a clamer just to get her to settle for a time but any other suggestions ?

Just a little bit of calmer made a huge difference to my youngster and I would totally recommend it. He's a stallion too so the help was much appreciated while I was trying to back him! Maybe you could work on groundwork and respect with her as well? It worked with mine as he's much more responsive and attentive now. Using little bits of Parelli technique helped with my gelding too who is a master at blanking me and doing whatever he wants. I'm not a total fan but it can be quite helpful to crack tough issues. How old is your horse?

I don't think a calmer is the answer to be honest. You need to work on her on the ground (not long reining), lead her, be infront of her, she needs to learn to walk at the speed you dictate, stop when you stop and needs to learn to 'park' (ie stand where you place her and not move until YOU ask her to). I had help from a lady with my youngster and these tips and advice have really helped me understand why he's doing things in a certain way (mainly cos he's unbalanced and can worry). You take the control and they stop rushing and stop worrying - you need to control where their legs are going and when!
