Sounds like he might need a massive injection of Finadyne (sp) or similar for pain relief....

Poor lad. I have everything crossed for him.
 
Has the vet considered hyperlipaemia (sp?). It is apparently quite common in donkeys if they are stressed, or put on restricted diets. I lost a pony with laminitis many years ago when she just gave up eating, with hindsight I suspect it was hyperlipaemia. Perhaps it might be worth her mentioning it to the vet.
 
He had a huge pain relief jab yesterday as not been eating his meds, so prob will have another one today no doubt if vet out.

It does say large horses rarely get it so probably not relevant but thought it was worth posting. Regarding the not eating, my donkey went off his feed and as he is old and hasn't many teeth I tried Rowan Barbary Soft nSoak ready mash, having heard really good reports. He loves it and licks the bowl clean, it says on the bag it is good for convalescing animals.

Yes it does sound like the same actually, there is quite a good article about it from the donkey sanctuary as well as the one I posted above. How is he this afternoon.?
