Done, thanks for sharing.

Curious that they say that the survey is "aims to explore how people in the UK might find a new puppy, and the decisions they make when choosing which puppy they might purchase ... to improve the welfare of puppies, and the experiences of puppy purchasers in the future" and yet the survey is almost totally focused on the importing of puppies, not on a purchaser's understanding of what information to be looking for in a UK-specific ad.

I've done it, although I don't think their blurb is particularly accurate - it was entirely focused on the illegal import of puppies, not really about how people make choices based on the wording of adverts. Interesting survey though.

Done it but as above it wasn't really about puppy buying as much as illegal imports. I did comment after the first advert that no I wouldn't buy because no health tests and hoped there would be scope to expand. Understandably I think RVC are getting very worried about all the illegal imports, be they puppies or rescues, but people still seem to buy them despite all the publicity.

In fairness to the RVC they’ve done other ‘pandemic puppy’ surveys in the last couple of years looking at broader purchasing choices, I’m assuming there’s a reason the import bit has been left out of the blurb for this one.

(How many people would have picked up on the age of the puppy not being viable for a legal passport, unless prompted by saying it was a survey about imported puppies specifically?)

Agreed. I’ve done another survey about buying a puppy around of after lockdown that was much more about how much research you did, whether you spend more or less time and money in training, vets, general care than you thought etc. I also wouldn’t have picked up on the age of the puppies and the passport legalities. There are a lot of puppies being imported and sold here and, apart from the health aspects and lack of disease testing, I do think it’s driving the puppy farming business abroad but people feel like they’re rescuing these puppies and so are doing a good thing.
