Rye or ryegrass?

My horse is allergic to rye but I'm confused, apparently rye is different to ryegrass. Can anyone clarify this and if they are different am I likely to find rye in grazing and haylage?

Don't know anything about rye but alot of haylage is made from ryegrass. Marksway do a timothy based haylage.

Rye is a cereal and grown for the grain with straw as a bye product whereas ryegrass is grown for the leaf as fodder plant. Hope that clears your mind some.

I thought rye was a cereal don't they use it in some sort of alcohol making?

my mare was on the marksway ryegrass halage did do well with it and now she is on the timothy and is absolutly fine on it
