S hackamore vs English ???

Does anyone know the main differences between the S hackamore and the English, in terms of severity and steering?
After researching online seen conflicting info. Very confused now! Also the S, looks to me to have a higher chin strap? but not sure...

I ride my pony in an english one with leather straps, but it's a bit worse for wear now, so looking to get something new thats more lightweight and comfortable for her, as the current one is very bulky with big heavy shanks.

I've used both. I found the S hack a more severe bit than the English hackamore. Steering is similar. Better steering and softer horse in a scawbrig, but nowhere near as much emergency brakes
