This may be nothing, or may be nothing....we're not sure, but hubby said to let you all know, so bear with me as it might take a bit of explaining!

Last night, just after midnight, I heard the dogs kicking up a fuss, my hubby has a rottie who lives out and my dog was with him. I peered out of the kitchen window and the security light had come on.....

Hubby went out with the torch, and got the rottie on a line, he was really upset and had his heckles up etc. He's a pretty laid back dog and doesn't get worked up over nothing. Hubby couldn't find anything amiss and came back in. Almost as soon as he'd closed the door we heard a vehicle pull up. Hubby ran upstairs to look out of the window to see if he could see anything, but it had gone, so he can't even hazard a guess on the size of the vehicle etc from the lights...

This morning when out with the dogs I discovered that my electric fencing was down in an exposed spot. it's pulled into the paddock. What hubby thinks is that someone came into the paddock through the field behind the paddocks, there is flattened corn in a track in places, stepped over the sheepwire but didn't realise that the electric is there, set a few feet away from the fence. They ran into it, made some sort of noise and alerted the dogs, then ran straight down the entrance when the house lights came on, setting off the motion sensor lights......

From their point of entrance they were next to both the barn and my husbands workshop/garage....so could have been after the car/hubbys tools/trailer or the tackroom.....

Or it could have all been a huge coincidence....but I don't think so....

So....I just thought I'd make you aware....I don't have a horse here at this time so they weren't horse-napping, but I half wish I did have, as the electric's on the mains and knocks you on your back lol-ask hubby!

That's worrying, at least your post is your own experience though & not third or fourth hand. Where abouts are you as I am too in S.Lincs, pm me if you don't want to broadcast it.

OMG - yes Holbeach is very near me.

Mmmm - guess I won't be going to sleep tonight!! Shall defo be leaving the windows open. Have very vocal dogs so should anyone be about they will let me know. God this is all very disturbing.

My friend lives in Sutton St James and had her trailer stolen last year, they cut down her fencing, hitched the trailer up & drove away across the fields, she didn't hear a thing. Luckily, her horses were in and it wasn't them they were after but had they been out with the fencing down god only knows what could have happened, loose horses on country lanes in the middle of the night.

I didn't mean to panic you lol

Like I said, it may have been nothing, I just felt people should be aware. They could have been after a number of things; hubbys tools, the compressor, diesel, the car, trailer or possibly horsey bits, but I daresay if anything it was tools...or the ride on mower....

Or it could have been an opportunist having a wander to see what's about....

We took the electric down and replaced the tape with the thin orange stuff in that section, moved it t the edge and using minimal poles, it's not very visible at all in the dark unless you're really looking for it, hooked up to the mains that might give anyone who thinks to return a nice little suprise....!!

I'm hoping that the fact that at the slightest noise both the dogs and hubby was alerted will be enough to put them off returning, I just thought you locals would like to be aware, as I know sometimes my dogs bark at night and after a quick look out of the window I tell them to shutup and go back to sleep!

I'm just thankful I don't have a horse here just now or I might be sleeping in the stable lol (I'm a worrier!)
