Lunged Axey this morning, he was going really beautifully and I was so pleased with him, he looked lovely.
I changed the rein but when he went into canter he started bucking, really massive one's. He bucked so much that at one point he actually fell over

He got up and carried on trotting and looked perfectly sound so I carried on with him for another few mins.
However, when I stopped him to finish he was holding his inside (right) hind up and his whole leg and back was shaking. I walked him on and he looked ok so I took him back to his stable and gave him a good look over. I couldn't find a thing his leg was cold and there was no swelling.
He was resting that leg, but the saddle fitter came this afternoon and I had to ride him and he was fine, not lame in the slightest.

Fingers crossed he's ok.

OMG I feel sick for you, having been in a similar position twice recently.

Fingers crossed he's fine and was just feeling a bit silly holding his leg up. Good that he was fine when you rode him this afternoon.

(((((HUGS))))) because I'll bet you were horrified when he fell over.

He may be a little stiff in the morning - silly a**e!!

I would just make sure he gets a decent amount of time out in the field tomorrow to walk it off and look again tomorrow night.

Hope hes ok!!

Oh no - you must be really shaken by it - H once did this to me - she napped on the lunge and reared and sat on the fencing - she came off holding her leg and shaking - much similar to your description of Axey.... She came sound really quickly and we just put it down to her having given herself a dead leg like feeling - she's been perfectly fine on it ever since - hopefully Axey did something similar - but at the time it's terrifying!!!

Thanks Kate, I hope that's what he did then. I was so upset after, especially since he's only just had his back done by the vet, what with all the injections and things he had to have, and 3 weeks off.
Poor boy

Maybe he won't be so quick to buck on the lunge next time!
