I wonder what the options are for sacro iliac problems in a 23 year old. My vet, physio and chiro all have differing opinions but all agree that a scan would be pointless at that age due to the numerous potential hot spots it would show in a horse of this age. He has had a very hard life and retired to ourselves three years ago. He has always had a bit of a wobble in his back end if tied for grooming or asked to go backwards a short way but after assessment at our lameness centre and improvement with hock and knee injections from which he did very well for a long time - well over a year he was able for light hacking and coped well.
My vet has now offered a course of cartrophen injections and also advised Danilon 2 per day but this hasn't really helped all that much. I wonder if anyone has had experience of this and if anything else could be suggested. He is an amazing boy and the sad part is that he is so honest it is so hard to work out just how sore he is. He still runs to greet us every day and is very bright in his eye and his coat is stunning so I am keen to take that as a good sign. Can anyione help with advice on where we go next or who to contact, what we could try etc.
