Hi, for those of you that have been unfortunate to have had a horse suffering with sacroiliac problems how was this diagnosed? Was it by your regular vet or did your horse need to be referred for a bone scan?

Thanks in advance :)

My horse has si problems. Diagnosed from X-rays and nuclear scintigraphy as well as nerve blocking. Treated with Tildren iv, depo medrano steroid injections and using shock wave therapy

Hey, mine was diagnosed with a bone scan. She then had a series of steroid injections, repeated at 6 month intervals for about 18 months, and a very careful rehab programme. We also added in physio and McTimoney. The bad news? She's a field ornament. The good news? The SI issue isn't the cause - that fixed, although it took a year off and more physio to achieve it... Hope you have better luck!

Mine was diagnosed with osteoarthritis by all the possible tetsts they could do - I think combination of xray, nuclear scintigraphy and rectal ultrasound plus history of very sore back, unequal muscle development etc.

Might have steroid jab when we go back - but his main area for treatment is currently his neck.
