My horse is a 16hh 19yo TB. I had him fitted for new saddle about 3/4 weeks ago and saddle fitter did usual tests on back to check for soreness and he didn't react. They came back to fit the saddle today and he was very soar in the sacroiliac area also going into his back. She said he was too soar to do the initial fitting and thought it was best I rest him and get physio out.

The old saddle was poor fitting and putting too much pressure on the back of his back, but he wan't reacting 3 weeks ago when I had been riding in it up until that point. He has just moved yards so could be more tense and more sensitive as he is still settling in?

He span with my sharer out on a hack (pigs) could the spin have triggered him to tweak something in his back? He can put in a spin if he doesn't like something, so this isn't uncommon for him! He has been fine with me out hacking in company and in the school and not showing any unusual signs. He is always a bit lazy with engaging his back end, could this be a sign he has an issue with his sacroiliac joint?

The yard has a physio out on Friday so I will try and get them to fit me in to see what is going on. Worried mummy!

Mine has had a sore sacroiliac for a while, definitely get the physio mine has worked wonders. Lots of long stretching through the neck and back, and I do back leg stretches too.

Good to hear! Did you find the physio helped straight away or did you have to have them out a few times to see a difference?
