As title really. I suffer from above and really should do my exercises, but am soooo busy looking after horse and working to pay for him that I never seem to have time. Now I've started jumping again it's really taking it's toll on my back, and i was wondering if anyone else has same or similar problems and how you deal with them?

I've just started doing some Palati's (not sure how you spell it!!) exercises, they are wicked, but they do do you good. Try and go and get some lessons with someone, my trainer uses a woman who comes to his house, he has named her "madam whiplash"

Haha! You see I preach to everyone else that they should do Pilates, but I've got a vid in the cupboard and have only used it once! I might have another look at it or go to a class - the Madam Whiplash thing sounds a LOT scary though!!!!

He he, I was in hysterics as he was showing me the exercises the other day, there I was, lying on his living room floor, my mum sat on the sofa Pi**ing herself whilst he tried to stretch me ways I couldn't possibly go!!!

Good luck, just remember to breath

My sacro iliac joint was wrecked in an accident involving my pony & a ditch a long time ago, so I know where you're coming from.

These are the things that have helped me A LOT:

1) Heather Moffatt seatbone saver - they're even BD legal if they match the saddle & it's like getting a new spine.
2) I've now got a WOW - ditto the above.
3) A thing called a Serola strap. Google for it - they're around £25 & it's a back support but it goes round your hips & it holds everything together. They are absolute heaven if you're suffering. But BE CAREFUL with the sizes & get the size you are rather than the size you hope you are. I'm size 8/10 & ordered small even tho it said 34" cos I'm ALWAYS small & *whispers* I should have been honest with myself & got a 36" as mine barely fits.

Before the above, I was virtually crippled & couldn't walk properly after riding etc but now I'm happily BD ing & BSJA ing & I hardly think about my back.

Hope this helps.

I have SI joint problems too and have tried to get a Pilates instructor to come to the house but I can't find one. I tried contacting one from an ad in the local free trade ads magazine but she never got back to me despite me leaving two messages. Does anyone know of a pilates teacher in East Yorkshire? If you do, I would be very grateful for contact details. Thanks.

I had this and struggled to ride. I went to see doctor and they just put me on strong painkillers, which worked but only masked the real problem. It eventually got so bad that my husband just booked me into his chiropractor, which I don`t believe in and I do now. Wow sorted, was my pelvis, which was out that started the problem with sacroilliac joint. No problems now as long as I go regularely, also I am much sounder!
