On Sunday my beloved gentle giant Ben who I've had for 6 years is moving to a new home, I feel I have no choice as my daughter rides and is much better than me and I want to give her (no pressure) the chance to carry on improving, but we're feeling the squeeze so something has to give.
On the positive side I know the person who has bought him and he says I can come and see him and ride him if I want to, but he won't be mine any more.
Tomorrow we are going for a last blast to a lovely XC course (woodland ride & schooling day).
I failed to find a sharer earlier this year but I didn't advertise him for sale, it alll happened word of mouth although he was reasonably priced for what he is, a lovely hack (but rubbish at jumping).
I will soooo miss him.

Awww. Try to enjoy him while you still have him. it sounds as though he's got a lovely home waiting for him and the fact that it was found by word of mouth and you can still go and visit him as all very positive signs.

Chin up honey x

Very admirable thing to do - I hope your daughter appreciates it and he's happy in his new home. x

It will be a very sad time but it will get easier once you know he has settled into his new home and there busy ringing you up saying how thrilled they are and sending you pictures, look on th bright side, he's had you as an owner, you sure he's going to a good home and now you can focus and put all your energy and enthusiasm into your daughters riding ambitions....you never know if she gets a bigger horse in time may be able to share perhaps? In the meantime spend lots of time with him and give him lots of treats!
