I am very sad today. Hector coliced teatime yesterday. He was PTS late last night. Vet could feel a twist/displacement which got progressively worse. We decided that surgery wasn't an option for him due to a history of colic, lameness and injuries.

I'm so sorry to read this Thistle, I always liked reading both yours & Nicky's reports of him out eventing over the years... Bless him, RIP Hector...

So sorry to hear this Mandy. Goodbye to another HHO forum and real life legend. Hugs to you and Abbi and one for Nicky too :(. xx

He always was high maintenance. Recently has a sarcoid lasered off and vaccs a few weeks ago. Still on the bright side farrier and dentist are coming next week. He had to save his colic for maximum disruption and expense. He always was so very speshul. He was sound again and had just started walk work.

Had a fab vet last night, Lauren from Tyrrels.

I keep going through the what ifs.

He was turned out daytime only, on a well grazed 1/3 acre. Looks like the rain followed by sun was the culprit. I even gave him less hours out yesterday because I though the sun may trigger grass growth. Seems like you can't win sometimes.

However, the horses have to fit into our lives and you can't be doing things with them 24/7. All you can do is your best.

So sad to be reading this, such a lovely horse, sympathies to all who loved and cared for Hector , he will have left alot of happy memories x
