Sad day

How awful for you all. Poor poor horse. So young as well. A few years ago, i was watching 3 horses in one of the fields at the yard. Two of them were chasing the other & would NOT leave him be. It was very odd because they were so used to each other & had never acted like that toward each other before. I ran over to shout at them & try to break them up, but as i got there the pony being chased dropped to the floor & was dead within a couple of minutes. He was 24 & the vet reckoned a heart attack (something to do with how quickly the blood had drained from his gums??). I've always wondered if he died BECAUSE they chased him too much, or if they chased him because they knew he was going to die (like in the wild when they're driven out because they put the heard at risk of predation)....?
My thoughts are with you all. X

How sad for your friend, so nice that you were there to help her. Holts are very good have never seen them be anything but sensitive.

Gosh that's awful, well done you and Sooty for being such good friends and making sure everything was sorted. Poor horse and poor friend! At least the horse died after a lovely ride, best way to go IMO doing what they love. I hope you and your friend are ok.

Oh how truely awful! My condolences to you and your friend! So, so sad! Who says horses don't have a sixth sense! Hugs xx

Thanks again for all your replies.
It was also bad timing as this time last year another friend I hack with lost her 2 horses in a road accident. Next December Toff is staying in a padded room!
