When you have to lock the gate of you yard when your go out, through worry of a neighbouring yard might come in to gather info.

Without going into detail we have a sick horse here (under vets care).
Some of the liveries there are quizzing other liveries here about this horse , asking how it is owner doing wrong by it, quizzing sharer's including or in front of their kids. This is wrong all of the yard including me have been asked kindly (and its our policy anyway) to keep any info about their horse or its progress or set back to within our 4 walls.

We don't worry about what goes in other yards so why are they interfering??
Lots of the liveries have been approached and now the manager is making excuses to come in and noses around and looks at the injured horse why he mentioned something, missing cat etc!!.

This is a sad day when I have to lock the gates and so do liveries as obviously they are noting down when vets are coming etc.

The sickest I found is when a pony was PTS a few months back when the truck came the driver was told it was for two horses. Livery said no and its next week you got the week wrong and the amount of horses wrong. Obviously One of the troublemakers next door was going to get the owner here of the horse to PTS by a forced means I cannot say here.

Leaves a very bad taste in the mouth I can tell you .

Time to start snooping on there yard randomly- see how they like it. If confronted just say you thought was free for all as they keep coming to your place.
Failing that can't suggest anything useful. Sorry

That is so sad. Poor owner must be feeling bad enough just having a sick horse, nevermind having idiots nextdoor poking their noses in.

Time to get a big noisy dog perhaps?

Personally I would call the owners of the other yard and talk it through and explain how upsetting their actions are. They may be too wrapped up in their nosiness to realise the upset they are causing. If things have deteriorated beyond this level already then consider installing CCTV if you havrnt already snd do them for trespass.

I know if it was me, I would prob speak to our very friendly local pcso (community support officer) to go have a work about trespassing. This is dreadful & i really do feel for you..it shouldn't be happening. I'd second the tresspassers and even no canvassers/callers without telephone appointment signs. I hate it when even random walkers just come into my yard(only me ever here) its on a private drive at a private house so absolutley no excuse...one left her husband & dogs at gate who tried to stop me driving in& she was coming out of a stable (with horse in)and her friend was coming out the other door where my feed & 3 other horses are..I hit the roof..asked where she lived..gave me the area..so I pushed for EXACT details..and told her I would be sure she would have things to say if I helped myself to her playing children and started stroking them..point hit home I think as they looked at me in sheer disgust like I was 'wrong' and tho I know very different to yours, I know its a very helpless feeling. I hope the horse in question gets better soon & that this all resolves calmly & quickly for you so you can enjoy your horses once again xx

That's a pretty poor way to behave.
The owner is likely going through absolute hell without having to deal with that on top.
You have my utter sympathy, the world of horses can be inhabited by some complete fruitloops at time.
I'm pretty horrified that someone from a neighbouring yard would come snooping on your property.

That's weird, are the suspecting strangles or something or just being nosey? I don't quite get it :o

No its not strangles they being nosy and don't agree with the treatment ( vet care and owner care)

and next door yard think owner should PTS

The horse is happy and a zest for life, we all have assured the vets that owner knows the cut off switch ( when PTS) is next best ,we have a dog here already and when YM from next door comes in don't doesn't do anything.

I adviced Owners to give no info to anyone outside the yard as I felt sure as eggs is eggs the noseys would start to question other liveries/ sharer as they had to get the gutter press update. They would slip up and put themselves in the guilty place. Sure enough once we all kept strum the questions started. One Biotch said how is XXXX livery said sorry cannot discuss it, biotch said * OH SHE IS STILL THERE STILL IN THE LAND OF LIVING HUH??* and with that walked back into the other yard.

Yard next door have allot of biotches in it all clicky clicky . This horse is so sweet and loving why do people have
to butt in and drag things into the gutter causing nasty vibes between yards. It would be different if no help given but EVERY thing that can be done is being done what more can a horse ask for than 1st class treatment and care.

And to do the unthinkable (cant say on public forum) to me you cannot get lower than to do this one last straw that broke camels back. Now its not working they are trying to get info by means of the above.:(

Leviathan, I'm sorry to be picky, but your sentence above makes it sounds as if the vet has recommended pts and has had to be 'assured' that the owner knows when that will be, is that the case? If so that may be why neighbours are becomeing concerned, although I disagree that they should be involved, and certainly not trespassing on your yard.

Why on earth would anyone want to interfere or trespass onto another yard? Is there something else going on? Why are they really so eager to get onto your yard?

Its certain people because of the plan did not work they are trying to see ( i presume) if the horse is a live, bandaged etc un happy etc, any other info they can maybe use for the next stage.

The vets are happy and on the case and advising owner of options etc.

They just need to butt out and leave the care of the horse to owner and vets and other liveries who are helping out .

Its NOTHING contagious.

sorry I am dyslexic no i ment next door think this sorry corrected it :)

No need to apologise, if that's the case then it might be worth seeking legal advice to stop any bad publicity, it only takes small minded gossips to ruin somebodys reputation and if the horse is under veterinary supervision it is none of their business.

We are getting CCTV in the entrance for security as well as recording trespassers.

I suggested to all liveries they mention to the rest of us anytime anyone from next door hang about or come in for any reason.

No one knows the outcome but one things sure in this day and age what can be done is being done.:)

I think it's a good idea to be really upfront on this and put this to bed. YO from your yard should confront other YO and state the following,

1. Said horse has nothing contagious
2. Said horse is under vet care
3. Further visits will be seen as trespass.
4. To respect liveries privacy.

No debate, no recourse, just state the facts and then other yard will not have a foot to stand on. Emphasis to own liveries that this is a hard situation for livery in question and it is unfair to comment.

We had an elderly mare that went rapidly downhill last year. She was under full vet and yard care. As a yard, ALL liveries chose to give said livery the space and not ask questions as we could see the professionals were doing their utmost and the owner was very upset. Never ever saw the mare suffering but clear something was very wrong but would have been completely inappropriate to stick our noses in and cause further upset. Most of us just said we were sorry and let us know if we could help. Left it at that.

So sorry to hear of your troubles.

Sadly some people really overstep the mark and interfere where they have no rights. It's just a shame that they don't use those energies to do something positive for horses throughout the world who truly need some attention and help.
It sounds like you are doing all you can to combat this, but it's a shame you have to :(

Sorry this is happening assume low life tactic was to call RSPCA or similar.

I live next door to a well known shady dealer, they were very fond of trespassing on our yard letting chickens out for the fox , weedkiller on trees , suspect they poisoned our feral cat but no firm proof. All this because we stood up to them and told them to stop taking the p. Two years several police visits and CCTV later we have a very different life. She does still poke her nose in my business but who cares as it's a moot point now and anyway I see her name in the paper for deception every now and then and have a good laugh.

Apart from moving the horse to a secret location, legal proceeding might need to take place? You might only need to go as far as to getting a Solicitor's letter, per recorded delivery, into the hands of the YO, of the offending yard..

I don't know what's going on for you, but your message is so sad, and I know what terrible effect others can have on our lives when they want to, and I just couldn't read your message without sending you a hug xx

This ^^^^^^

Don't do anything daft OP :(

It never ceases to amaze me with livery yards how everybody else is a bloody expert on everybody elses horses !

Oh no, whatever's happening, it sounds awful. I suspect Tango has taken a turn for the worse ?

((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))

You know this forum will support you. I was an RSPCA Inspector, and as long as the horse is under a vet (currently) and the vet's advice is being followed, then that is fine, the owner is doing exactly what is needed. I hated it when this sort of thing went on and I was used as the piggy in the middle.

Leviathan, are we talking about your mare? I am so sorry if that is the case. I am going through the mill myself at the moment due to this dreadful disease.

No constructive advice I'm afraid, but at times like this you need to focus on what is important, which is your mare, and ignore the other rubbish that is going on. Hope you are okay xxx
