Sadly I had to let my beautiful old mare go on Saturday evening.
I am pretty sure she had had a seizure just one hour after I had turned her out, but luckily so found her. Vet diagnosed colic and I am not Vet but all of the symptoms to me point to a seizure or a stroke.
I held her in my arms for the last hour of her life. And made the decision to let her rest in peace. At 29 years old, it really wouldn’t have been fair to put her through any more. She was cantering happily down the field just two hours earlier and as much as it broke my heart, I knew I had to let her go. She will be back with Alfie now who some of you may remember, I sadly lost back in February.
Rest in Peace Pixie, you were much loved and will be sadly missed. ?
