Sad loss of Carrot

How Terribly sad, at least they had a wonderful couple of years of kindness

Reading this has prompted me to donate to bransby, I really hope it's done the same for everybody who reads this post.

Its only us humans who are feeling sad, but we must remember that Carrot and Spud were happy for the rest of their lives at Bransby, and will never be miserable again - and they're now running free (and fat!) together. RIP Carrot and Spud.

So very sad! Atleast they knew true love before they went, poor guys.

Has anyone told the people who first posted on here about them??

Such sad news that has brought a tear to my eye... bless them both, I too remember that god awful night that Andy and his wife highlighted their plight to us, not knowing themselves anything about horses but knew that these 2 horses need help and fast.... and thats exactley what they got from such wonderful lovely people.

I too am donating to Bransby and will be setting up a monthly donation to them too.

RIP Carrot & Spud run free together once again... so glad you both knew what love and care and food was.

Big hugs boys

Sad horsey stories always gauranteed to make me well up. Must avoid reading whilst in the office!

But a nice reminder to send a xmas donation to support the good work they do

I think this post whilst sad, in so far as Carrots life at Bransby was shorter than might have been hoped, is also an incredible reminder of the power of this forum and the good it can do.

Sometimes the forum has been accused of being a nasty bitchy place but then when you read stories such as this, operation Ester and Janets update on Ruby (to name just a few) you see what amazing things can be acheived when like minded people pull together.

I might be being a sentimental old sod this morning but it does make me feel quite proud.

Lets hope the 2500 people reading this might be motivated into giving just £1 to Bransby or another equine charity. Think of the good that could achieve this Christmas for the next Carrot and Spud xxxxx

^^ like. RIP Carrot

It should be remembered that while their time there didn't seem long they were boith very old - at least mid thirties so did incredibly well to have 2 years especially after such neglect:o

As for the vets - they are a big well known practice that regularly get mentioned on here - they don't care:o

The owner wasn't prosecuted as he signed over the horses to Bransby which was the best outcome for them - the risk when prosecuting is that the Courts may have decided they could have gone back to the owner:o:rolleyes:

As some one else has said the owner wasa real charmer:rolleyes: I seem to remember him questioning our parentage as well as issuing threats to tthose of us that were there:rolleyes despite the presence of the Police:rolleyes::o

I don't think Andy and Chloe live there anymore so I can't update them but they did go and visit the boys at Bransby:)

Andy & Chloe were the most amzing people. They knew nothing about horses, but they could see that Carrot & Spud were in terrible condition. They found the HHO forum via google & came here looking for help.
Outstanding members of the human race.

^^^ This. Absolutely this.

I too remember when the thread about Carrot & Spud first appeared. I followed it intently, and even my non-horsey OH was asking me for regular updates. It showed the very best of what an internet community is all about.

Rest in peace Carrot, now you are with your old buddy Spud again. Run free, beautiful ponies.

I have donated to Bransby today in their memory.

If I ever meet Andy and Chloe I will buy them a very large drink. They are superstars.
I've made a donation to Bransby in memory of the horses.

Hello Horse lovers!

I know that this is no longer current news, but its not like I visit this forum on a regular basis...

Its a slow day at work... thought I'd visit this forum on the off-chance that there were any updates about how Carrot was getting on in his home. A little sad to read this that he has passed away, but at least he (and Spud) spent his final months in relative luxury, and now the pair are re-united.

I also had a read through of the epic original threads from September 2009 (can't believe it is that long ago)... what this forum achieved within 24 hours was truly amazing, and just goes to show what can happen when people unite for a good cause. Big pat on the back to everybody involved back then, and also a big thank you to the Bransby Home for Horses, who took them in and looked after them.

RIP Carrot & Spud

Well Andy, those two horses have an awful lot to thank you and Chloe for.

You're quite the legend on this forum!!!!

Hi Andy, I just wanted to say having spotted this thread on the page 1 of the forum, I didn't know the story as I've only been on this forum for 2 years - so I went back and read through the original threads (epic as you say!) and I'm just so moved, a massive well done you and Chloe for what you did, and for everyone that shouted loud enough to get something done. Having read it all though and seen the photos I'm sat here trying not to cry (even it was several years ago!).
Well done you!!!!! :):)

Andy, there will always be a warm welcome for you here on HHO from those of us who remember you & Chloe & what you did. Keep in touch friend.
