Sad News, Pony is going to be PTS on Friday :(

I am only 16 years old so I am finding it quite hard to cope. My 14.1hh Connemara x pony is to be PTS on Friday. We got him 2003 after many troublesome ponies we thought that Pringle would be perfect for us. Then the problems began, he started to rear, and these were serious rears - even a few ending up with him going over backwards. We found it increasingly hard to ride him and we got his hooves x-rayed. He had a 5% rotation of the pedal bone and various other problems. We sent him up to a friends yard to have treatments on his hooves and in all fairness they did begin to improve. We then had him back and began riding him which proved brilliant and we decided to take him to a few unaffiliated showjumping competitions which he won
A local friend's horse then died of old age, so Pringle was used as a companion which is where he has been until today, where last he got laminitus badly and now he can't even walk.
This pony, however dangerous, has given me some of the best years of my life and I am going to miss him soo much.
Sorry for any mistakes but I have been crying all day and I can't really see what i'm writing.

What a lovley boy, worse when you know it is coming, but try and keep you chin up, and give him loads of love, which I know you will.

It is clearly the right decssion, not one that I am as brave as you to make I am sure.

Pringle is a very handsome boy with a lovely kind face. Looks like you have given him a wonderful life. Some fantastic photos there.

As hard as it is for you, he will thank you for ending his pain. Hugs to you and Pringle. Remember the happy moments as shown in the photos. xx

i was given this poem by someone on here when i had to have my old gal PTS, it means so much to me:

Oh babe I am sorry to hear of this sad news he looks so sweet in these piccies...have lots of time together until Friday give him lots of fuss, groom, cuddles etc tell him everything you want him to know...this helped me, I do feel your pain my sweet and its never a nice thing to have to do but it's only fair to him thats why you are ending his pain.

He will thank you and will always be with you the tears will soon turn to smiles of the happy times and the silly times you both had...let the tears flow sweetie....

My thoughts are with you and sending you big big hugs....

Big big hugs!! He is a very gorgeous boy, and your photos are wonderful, I love the 5th one down. Think of the good time you have spent together, will be thinking of you. More hugs!! xx

yea I think they would say something like this...made me cry though...
 
it a gorgeous poem and im so glad the person who sent it me. its has so much meaning for me and Sasha RIP. it makes me cry everytime i read it.
Sasha was really my mums pony who i rode, but I did her a cross stich with a picture of Sasha and this poem underneath it.
 
Well at least you can say that you gave him a few good years and you have your lovely photos and memories you can treasure. Be brave. This is a tough call for you. Alot of us on here have been there so we all know what you are going through. ((((( Hugs)))))))
 
Oh honey I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm facing the prospect of losing my man soon and I know its a very loney feeling. Take comfort in all your good memories and remember that you are doing the very best thing by him.
That is a beautiful poem. I have tears in my eyes.

Thank you all for your kind words.
I know that this is the hardest decision i will ever have to make and I just wish that it could have come at a time when I would be more mentally mature to cope with it.
I am sat here crying my eyes out trying to remember the good times that we had together, but all I can see is him leaving.
This is so hard and I repect anyone who has had to go through it.

Oh dear now i'm crying again, every time i read one of these threads i end up sobbing. Your pony is gorgeous, you have had wonderful times together and he has been a very lucky boy to have been loved so much by such a brilliant caring and considerate owner. You know that the right thing is being dobe by him. it's hard but you will feel better, even though it seems like you never will. Huge hugs xxxx
