Sad News, Pony is going to be PTS on Friday :(

you're being so brave hun i dread that day coming so much and you're doing so well to cope. he looks like such a little sweetie go and cuddle him and spoil him rotton tomorrow. That poem really made me cry

I am very sorry.
I have recently been through this with my much loved mare and it is very hard.
I am much older than you and I found it to be one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
You are being very brave and Im sure you are doing the right thing. Just spend time with him and spoil him as much you can. Dont be afraid to cry. I am really sorry.
 
Honey - I lost my boy today and am sending you all the hugs in the world.... you are doing right by him and he will thank you...

He is going to green pastures where there will be no more pain - he will thank you. I have 10yrs on you and its still very very hard but be brave and strong for him and make sure you have people with you. Spoil him rotten these last few days - we spent hours fussing Riv and cuddling him.

but as others have said you are doing the right thing by your pony. Although he cannot thank you and doesn't have the capacity to understand your actions please try and find some peace in your heart that you are doing what is best for him and ending his pain and suffering.
Remember all the good times that you had together. You may not want to do this but if you don't already have a painting of him why not consider having a collage done of you and him or just him. Not trying to offend or hurt your feelings at this upsetting time. It's just that I thought it may be a nice touch to remember your old pony as well as photos and memories.

That is the hardest desition you will make and you have shown maturaty by making it. It will never be easy even if you where 100. As everyone has said you are doing the right thing. Make the most of the time you have left and realy focas on him and making him as happy now as he has been all the time you have owned him. You didn't give up on him at the start and you are doing whats best for him now. He was so lucky to find someone who loves him the way you do and he will leave knowing you always put him first and loved him enough to end his pain even though it will cause you so much. My thoughts are with you and your boy.

Hi OP,

There will never be an age when you are 'mature enough to mentally cope'. I had to have my first pet put to sleep in May this year (I'm 32) and I was in shreds. I hope it all goes ok for you tomorrow. He looks a smashing chap.

Yeah, I have been thinking of having a painting done of him, I might get a job so that I can earn enough money to pay for it along with money that I will get at Christmas. It will cost alot, but you can never put a price on love and I would love to have something visual to remember him by as well as our great memories that we shared.
Is there anyone on here who would be willing to do a painting if I can find some way of sending money when I have managed to get some?

sending big hugs you way, if you ever need someone to talk to i'm hear, only being 13 I knoe ehat you feel, I lost my boy earlier this year. The pain does get easier and the good memories do take their place.

You are really brave, and you made the right choice for him.

She does, and you have some lovely photos for her to work from. Shes away for a week but when you feel ready feel free to give her a call and ask her about it if you want to.

Make sure you have someone around to look after you tomorrow once you have finished looking after your pony...my other pony has had to put up with me crying into his neck a lot the last few months cos im not too good crying on peoples shoulders!
 
Yeah i will definately look into that.
I might ask my family to help towards the cost and get one of his head in the middle and other pics of him around the edge.
I will have alot of people around me that will be with me tomorrow, it's going to be hard for all of us but I had the connection with him that no one else understood.
My other horses will have tear stained necks no doubt!
