Just been to the vets and it looks like my poor little dog has breast cancer. She is going in for an op to remove the lump tomorrow. She is only 7 and we have only had her 2 years. She is such a chirpy, happy dog. Sorry, can't type any more, crying too much.

thank you Red30563 and festnuttyfairy (love that name!). Fingers crossed she will be ok. Vet said that as she has no symptoms other than the lump then she could make a full recovery and live till old age. Looking up mammary cancer in dog now on google, not sure that's the best idea though.....

:( Hugs xx

My YOs dog had to have both her mammary strips (if thats the right term) removed a couple of years ago when she was 8 and tho she was very sorry for herself after the op she's been fine ever since :)

Thanks Cop-Pop, that has reassured me. I'll keep my fingers crossed. The vet is going to take the nipple off that is nearest the lump. Another £400 that we'll owe my parents! She is not insured but figure we'd have spent nearly that on insurance over the 2 years that we have had her so hey ho.

Oh, that is sad news. :(

Sending some healing <<<<<vibes>>>>> for your little girl, and some reassuring (((((hugs))))) for you.

Hope everything goes as well as it posibly can, and hoping for a good outcome. Please keep us updated - we're not just nosey;) in here, we're also very concerned. ;);):)

C xx

Thank you for all the kind words. Weeping attacks are under control now (even the OH was welling up when he called his mum and dads to tell them, 1st time I've seen him cry). I've been reading the forum for a few months now and only just started posting and I'm so glad I have now.
Adventskranz , noseyness is all good by me and I never had a doubt about the concern. I will update you all tomorrow once she is back at home.

xx

sorry to hear about your girl, one of my girls had mammary tumour she had her op and she was fine. It is not like human breast cancer, as soon as she is over the op she will be fine.
Sending you massive cyber hugs x

Good luck for today :) My dog was operated on yesterday ( they thought it was a tooth abcess, turned out to be a growth in the back of his mouth :( ) He was up and about within a few hours, eating/drinking; He's very quiet though as can be expected as he's over 11 years old now.

Let us know how she gets on

Came home from work early as was in no fit state to see customers. Just waiting for the vets to call to say how she is. The house is very quiet without her. It is so good to know that other peoples dogs have gone through this and are ok.
AngieandBen, I hope your dog is back to his usual self ASAP, (((((((hugs))))))) from me.

Just wishing you both well and to pass on what happened to my dog, she was 10 when she was diagnosed and operated on and made a full recovery and was pts age 14yrs for an unrelated issue.

Thinking of you today and hope she is soon back home. My saffie had 2 separate mammary tumours, both were successfully removed and she made a full recovery even though she was over 10, we lost her a couple of years later from a pyo.:(

Just heard from the vets, they had to take out a bit more than expected and she has a drain in which will need to come out in a few days but she is doing well. The vet does accupuncture so I said it was ok for him to do some on her to help her recover from the op quicker. So relieved she is ok and finger crossed that will be it. Thank you all so much for the lovely messages, they have really helped. You are all lovely!

Oh thats great news :) Hope she continues to make good progress.

I was in a trance yesterday, kept sobbing everytime someone spoke to me! My little dog has just been out for a walk and had some chicken....plus he barked at the postman this morning so must be getting better!

Thats sounds like your little dog is also doing good, its always a good sign when they bark at the postman.:)

Just picked her up from the vets, she is looking very sorry for herself (but she is a springer spaniel and is well practiced in the art of looking pathetic to get her own way) but has just wolfed down a bowl of food so that is a good sign. She is curled up on the sofa.:)

Let her out on the lead this morning (she is not allowed off the lead untill the drain comes out tomorrow), she was not happy to be on the lead in the garden and was trying to drag me round to the front so she could go for a walk! she must be feeling better. Thank you all so much for the lovely messages.

AngieandBen those spaniel eye are infamous! Glad to hear your chap is on the mend too.
