Saddle advice for wide flat backed cob!

After saddle advice... I've got a rather round, wide, flat backed cob. Had saddle fitter out nearly 2 weeks ago to fit (on her recommendation) a thorowgood t4 cob saddle. She's in the biggest gullet, xxwide. All was well for the first week riding in it but this week its giving my girl a sore back, I think the saddle is slipping, potentially backwards & maybe sideways. Can anyone recommend a girth or anything to help stop saddle slipping & make her more comfortable? Failing that recommendations for other saddles that won't break the bank but will fit the wide flat backed type!

My cob mare is flat backed and the only saddle that fitted her was an Equipe! 2.2k but totally worth it and it still fits beautifully after 2 1/2 years! I use a stubben string girth as she has a forward girth groove!

I have the Thorowgood GP with a string girth. He has very pink sensitive skin so had a merino girth cover. Never had an issue. When in work, I had it re-flocked twice a year.

AH saddles are good, but are not cheap.
make sure your girth is not elastic, too.

AH Saddles were great for my wide flat backed cob ... @sbloom on here is very helpful, she fitted my boys saddle and am really pleased with it

Chunky Monkey worked really well for my cob, but they only have one fitter so she can be difficult to get hold of.

Resurrecting this thread as I have a very similar problem - 16h horse, flat backed, short coupled and with a 'dome shaped' wither (to quote the saddle fitter). She can take a 17.5" absolute max, and I'm 5'8''. The saddler recommended the thorowgood T4 cob with the XXW gullet (bought 2nd hand as they don't carry that brand) because of the adjustable gullet, but the seat seems to come up very small and there's no way I'm going to fit in it. It also doesn't really fit her - it's ok but not good. The tricky part is that she's about to be backed, so we can't do a fitting for both of us. I don't want to spend megabucks on something that can't be adjusted as she's going to change shape, but equally, I don't want to start her in something unsuitable..

Any thoughts?

Second hand, wide, specialist saddle. Even if it costs a fair bit of cash if it's a good saddle you'll get your money back, and occasionally more if you really buy well. Bear in mind TG headplates are really quite V shaped, a hoop tree or at least medium wide pommel is likely to work better IMO.

I got a Bowland Plus saddle from Pony Cob and Horse and it's great for my round mare! It's gorgeous!

It's on a wide tree which can be adjusted.

I used to have the T4 cob but wasn't comfortable putting the gullet that wide.
