i was given my tack with the horse i brought and i have a very straight cut dressage saddle and want to buy a jumping saddle. i dont no what size the dressage saddle is and was wondering how you measure it or can find out. if i could find out what the dressage saddle was then i would be able to buy a jumping saddle without the cost of a saddle fitter.

To measure the seat of the saddle you measure from the head nail on the side of the pommel diagonally across to the middle of the cantle. The width though will be harder to determine and dressage saddles and jumping saddles will fit differently.

I would advise seeking the advice of a qualified saddle fitter as all saddle styles and makes will fit differently. It's like us with clothes a size 12 top may fit in one shop but in another you may need a 10 or 14.

ok i will probably get my saddler in but thank you very much for explaining how you measure the saddle because then ill know vaguely what size saddle the saddler will be need in second hand before he come out. thank you, as i know how important it is to get these things right to be fair to the horse
