Hi

My instructor has suggested getting a different saddle but I am not sure what sort to consider (would be looking at second hand).

I am 5,10 and long of leg and short of body. , I am not particularly slim, but my weight is in the healthy range for my height 77/78 kg. I have lost about 5-6kg over the last six months and my weight has been stable. I wouldn't mind loosing another 1-2 kg but essentially my shape won't be changing much. My daughter, who shares her with me, is about 5ft 6 and of average build. I want to get a GP saddle that I find comfortable with enough knee roll for my daughter to do some low level jumping and to give a bit of security if she throws the odd buck or two, which she is known to do. Our horse is 16h/ 16.1 8 year old ID, she is not particularly wide for an ID; she is currently in a 17.5 Wintec with a medium wide gullet. She had a wide gullet in when we got her but has lost weight and gained some muscle. We have had the saddler out every few months to adjust the fit as she has changed shape a lot in the time we have had her. The Wintec is rather straight cut and not the best for doing what we will hope will be a greater range of activities in the future. Any ideas on brands would be appreciated.

All advice greatly appreciated.

Its just not possible to answer, sorry!

You need a good fitter to be able to at least advise on what to buy, or if you can find a good one, have someone out with a good range of used stock. You need something a little more forward cut, and probably a slightly flatter seat (Wintec GPs are fairly deep, even the Wide), but what fits your horse and both of you decently is 100% a piece of string question.

Has your saddle fitter (hope it's a fitter and not a saddler, a saddler makes and repairs saddles, bridles etc, though the term gets used for us fitters!) not been able to advise?

Mind you bucking can be at least partly related to saddle fit so there's a question mark there...
