Hi all.

Looking for some saddle advice before my saddle fitter comes out at the end of August.
I have a 15.1 XW cob with big shoulders

Looking for a temp saddle for a year or so until I’ve saved up for a bette one.

I currently have a Wintec wide model with an XW gullet - this is slipping slightly right - moved the girth straps I use which has helped slightly.
Have a non slip saddle pad on order - so hopefully that helps too.

Should I try / would a Thorowgood mgx cob be more suitable ?

I need a 17.5 seat when I’m measured but my right knee is coming slightly over the knee roll in the wintec.

Which saddle would you go for ? Is there a more suitable ‘cheap’ option ?!

Thorowgoods were always a better choice for wider types over a Wintec. I personally can’t stand Thorowgoods or K&M, I find them really uncomfortable. You can pick up an older leather Ideal etc for a couple of hundred which would probably fit better than the adjustable gullet types.
