Can anyone recommend me some saddlebags? pref those that go behind the saddle. Were heading to little lodge farm in aug with the horses so want something to pop lunch/flyspray/ a mac in. Needs to be super secure because although Jens not spooky my knees shot so cant be getting on and off every 2 mins to resecure!

Performance equestrian have loads of different ones designed to go on the saddle depending on what you need them for. I have the Stowaway one that clips on the side and ties on the girth loops and it holds loads, plus you can get bottle carriers to match.

I have some - I think they are Shires, they hold two bottles as well as having pouchs. Never been quite sure how it is meant to fit - but I have used it a few times. Wouldnt reccomend it for a spooky horse since it seemed to bang around a bit - especailly at the trot. But that could be because I didnt have it secured properly

How about a saddle cloth with pockets? Our local saddlery has some in that the owner brought over from the states, they look really good and definitely roomy enough for your sandwiches. You may be able to find them online?

I have these - zilco, from Amazon, about £15. I put carrabiner clips on them and clip them onto the stirrup leather keeper and they're pretty secure (haven't noticed them moving much and spend a lot of time in trot / canter, he's very uphill in canter too so if it's going to bounce on anything...) Loads of room for all my TREC gear and more besides.

Don't suppose you have a link JFTD? maybe im just being really thick but I can only see pommel bags!

have been looking at saddle cloths but was a bit worried that anything slightly "pokey" would stick through the cloth into the horse?

I've just bought some from Rideaway. They are Shires ones and were less than 20 quid. Search for saddle panniers on the website.
