Saddle - big brand vs saddler M2M?

This is his template (plus one with rulers for an idea of actual size)

Please note that Sam Blackwell (my saddle fitter) is brilliant and has been genuinely excellent advising me during my search.

I have already been to them, they recommended the albion slk and ideal suzannah. I cant afford a new saddle though so came home and bought a second hand albion from preloved, supposidly the same size, width, tree etc as the one i tried at horsesense but it didnt fit so i had to sell it.
They actually have very few second hand saddles , or at least they didnt show me any.
 
fwiw when I got my saddle off preloved I did post a template to the seller and she took a pic of it with the saddle for me :)

Im in penkridge. I use John duke and he sells some ideal saddles. He also sells discount ideal saddles 07974917350
 
I am a bit of a cynic, I just wonder how many of these M2M ate actually that.
There are just a few makers workshops and a lot of own brands are just rebadged out of these work shops, so they ring the workshop and just as for one to be made to their specification.
I had a M2M in the 80's, I actually went to the workshop in the back garden where all the saddles were in stages of being made and chose the leather off the rack, it cost £180. At that time he said he could only buy three widths of tree.
 
Kee your fingers crossed everyone I have just ordered an Ideal saddle from patrick wilkinson on trial (well you buy it and if it does fit they give you a full refund) after i send the template and he's suggested the appropriate width, a MW.
Will arrive with me on Friday so I will have the weekend to have a good play with it.
If it doesnt fit I may cry!

Are you able to say why? He fitted a Barnsby N Gage Dressage saddle for us about 3 years ago. Have another mare who needs a saddle & we are struggling to find something so was considering him

Good luck I had my Ideal made to measure it is one size for the horse an extra 1/2" on top for me, slim pannels for horse so they should be able to do what ever is needed for your horse so do not rush in to one of the peg. So far I am very pleased with mine.
