Hi,
I'm new and still learning to navigate my waya round, so hopefully i am putting this post in the correct place.
I regularly post in another forum and the lovley people there recomended I come over here for a nosy as there is a bigger "population" who may be able to help more.
I don't know if i can post a link to a blog I started keeping about my horse and myself for background info, but if necessary I can supply it,
Brief (I hope) backstory, I am originally Irish although have lived most of my life in Luxembourg (Mainland Europe), have always loved horses and rode as a child/teenager/young adult at family farm where my aunt is a trained risding instructor. When I turned 21 my parents caved and agreed to help me buy my first horse, with abovementioned aunt's help we purchased a 3yr old unbroken barely handled ISH mare. That was 4 years ago now and Kika (registered name is my username,
) and I have had our ups and downs since, the good greatly outweighs the bad,
When i finished university in 2009 (graduation 2010) I was offered a job back in Luxembourg so I moved and once contract was extended I moved the horse out here to join me (she had been in Ireland), we've had our fun navigating life out here and I realised very quickly how much i had relied on my aunt's invaluable wealth of equine knowledge. It has been a steep learning curve since branching out on my own, thanmkfully my parents still live out here and i have made great and knowledgeable friends at the barn here.
Right well, back story is getting long winded (sorry, my posts tend to
)!
Anyway have a saddle fitter coming this afternoon as I'm in the market for a General Purpose saddle. I spoke to him on the phone yesterday to try and gauge prices and see what makes he had at his disposal so that i could have a google and ask about brands to have some knowledge when i see him this afternoon.
The two brands he mentioned are Zaldi and Kieffer, a very good friend of mine at the barn uses a Sommer jumping saddle (German brand) which we tried on my mare and seemed to fit nicely although obviously not perfectly, so also mentioned this to saddle fitter (same one who sold friend her saddle) and he said he think he may have a GP in that brand called Sommer Exclusiv, I'm not sure on spelling guessing it'd be spelt in German.
Have googled all three brands and seen what they have on offer minus prices (on brand websites) although he has given me quotes/the prices he charges.
Wondering if anyone has any experience with these brands?
Good and bad reviews welcome!!
Bit more back story, bought a saddle back in October from another sadle fitter, have since come to the conclusion due to issues with mare that that never fit (backed up by other saddle fitter seeing it and concurred my belief that it does not fit). So would rather go inbetter informed about potential brands and what may be their pitfalls/bonuses.
Thank you very much in advance, and sorry if i have given more info than necessary - I tend to waffle on,
