Saddle buying & fitting question

I need a new saddle, i don't have a huge budget so would be looking for a second hand one, ideally a 17'' T4.

How do i go about getting one that i know will fit? I would want the saddler fitter to fit it, but i would need to buy one so he can fit it, but how will i know what to buy without him trying it?? Follow???

There's quite good fitting advice on the Thorowgood website if I remember correctly.

see if you can contact a thorowgood agent. the one here in Guernsey takes a template and send it off to Thorowgood and they decide what will fit and then you can agree to buy it etc and then she came out and fitted it for me.

some saddlers will try the saddle to see which fits best but maybe not if your not planning on buying from him.
