Saddle cloths and hair!

When we go out hacking, we put what is called a "torchon de course" or "torchon de selle" on the horse, then the pad.

The "torchon" is very much like a bath towel, but smaller.

I think you can get them in plain cotton, which would be easier to wash.

Dip hand in water, shake off excess, then rub lightly backwards and forwards over cloth until the hair balls up and can be removed. Repeat as necessary.
Certainly works for dog and cat hair on upholstery, so should work for saddle cloths.

thank you, i will try that, i`ve got some shockers here, mainly white hair, with quantities of hair enough to clog any drain hole

I've not had a huge problem with my Lemieux and Eskadron pads. Generally a hoover or a rubber brush does the job. I keep the rubber brush at the yard and use it every few rides. Quick and easy.

It's this:

I just ride show pony stylee without a pad for the worst of the moulting 🙈 Saddle is far easier to wipe over than constantly having hair everywhere.

Sadly mine has a serge lining, so can't.

Mine is in an Equitex pad. The hairs do stick but not clump. They also seem easier to get off than my others as there are no seams.

If you are worrying about hairs in the washing machine the big orange bags are brilliant . You can wash things and just turn the orange bag inside out and shake it outside to get rid of the hairs. I think I got mine from rideaway

Don’t think they make them anymore but the premier equine techno suede with bamboo lining are pretty hair clumping resistant / hair is fairly easy to remove. I kinda wish I’d acquired more than 2 of them.
