so, i found out today from a qualified saddle fitter that my saddle is completely the wrong fit. I have a narrow fit and i need a wide fit - so thats left me with the problem of finding a new saddle.
My current saddle is a falcon, very good quality and in excellent condition and is the most comfortable saddle i have ever ridden in, so im gutted i have to sell. I would love exactly the same saddle, in wide fitting, but in case i cant find one - what do i do?
I cannot afford £900 on a brand new leather saddle my budget is around £500 (this includes £350 for selling my current saddle), so my options are:
1 - By a brand new synthetic saddle.
I know there are the ones with the gullet change system which i am told is good for changing as the horse changes shape through putting on weight then losing it, but then how necessary is this?
Pros - brand new, light weight (horse is 15 years old now), easy to clean.
Cons - i prefer leather ones (although i am really considering the thorowgood leather look saddle), the idea of changing the gullet is appealing, although im not keen on the synthetic look, but then does this matter if horse more comfortable?
2 - second hand leather saddle.
Pros - Real leather saddle, looks great and if i can find the right one, i would buy it there and then!
Cons- as its already been used on another horse, it may have moulded to the shape of the previous horse (or so i am told).
What do you all think? I just hack out so no competing to worry about. All ideas greatly appreciated - im really rubbish at decision making so i need everyone's imput.
Thank you in advance
