Okay, horse perfectly happy in his saddle - at long last 5 fits in less than a year...... (2 within 2 weeks the past month)
however I am not - the offside back of saddle I can easily fit my whole fingers under it when girthed up, on the near side I can fit my fingers to the knuckle under it but I do have to push The saddle cloth also shows more of an imprint on the near side....
Horse is going the best he has ever gone, freely moving, elevated shoulders, offering walk to canter transitions with enthusiasm, I am mindful of my diagonals when trotting on a hack but could do more on the left to be honest, same as I do need to do more left lead canters on the hacks, as we do tend to do right lead.
He is growing again ! - just turned 5 in April So what would you do ? fitter out again ?

I'm absolutely no kind of expert on saddle fitting but I do know that they fit differently with a rider's weight in them (and of course that's when the fit really matters). Can you put your hand all the way in like that when you're actually sat in the saddle? If not - if it feels like a snug fit when you're sat in it - I wouldn't panic.

I would probably message the fitter and ask them the question you've posted here. They should be able to explain more about the way they've fitted your exact make and model of saddle and why it might look a bit high at the back when you're not sat in it.

Definitely go back to the fitter in the first instance, but also always look at how the horse is standing when you check static fit (you may well have done of course!), and keep working on straightness for both of you. Saddle fitting is a subtle art, and the straighter both of you are, the easier a job the fitter has. Groundwork is always a good idea, I recommend the Slow Walk Work group on FB, start with the featured posts.
