Ok so i brought my 5 year old (just turned) a wide hi lite elite saddle, has a sprung gullet, please take a look at the pic in my photo album at the sweat patch, after removing saddle n numnah and let me know if u think it fits x

I'm sorry but it's impossible to tell if a saddle fits over the internet.

Try to find a good saddle fitter and get them to come to your yard and assess the fit. :)

Horses do sweat after hard work under saddle, just make sure to sponge it down or wait for it to dry and brush it thoroughly so it doesn't build up and rub against the saddle cloth and make the skin sore etc. Very hard to tell without a pic of her wearing the saddle, and even then it's hard to tell over the internet. I'd get a saddler out to check, you can never be too sure xx

As above, for start there is no way to tell if saddle fits, simply from a sweat mark.
I would get a pro saddler out as there are various things to check such as pinching at shoulders etc.

Agree with all the above posts.

But I would say the sweat mark is very far forward over her shoulder. Either you put the saddle on too far forward or it slipped forward.

Her saddle was checked, and she said it may be a little wide, but the overall fit was fine, however the saddle patch sweat mark, made me wonder, as it looks odd. The numnah is full size, i need a cob / pony (however someone stole all of mine before i moved yards) so the forward bit is prob due to the fluffy lining of the numnah.

It's going to look odd because she also sweats around the saddle, and it's sweat so will to an extent move through the coat. There can't be a regular shaped saddle sweat patch :p If this is the only reason you think the saddle doesn't fit then stop worrying! :) xx

it was more the fact that along spine / gullet was mostly dry and sides where soaked, it just made me wonder was this ok, where as in her old saddle, she'd be soaked every where right across back, spine etc. I know it sounds daft, but she is my baby (geeek i know) ive had her since november, she was given to me for free, by someone who couldnt deal with her, she's come on leaps and bounds (apart from wanting to do EVERYTHING, at a million miles an hour)

If it was drier along her spine that's a good sign. It shows that the saddle isn't putting pressure on her spine and that also there's enough room that there's still a gap there even while you're sitting on her, also allowing ventilation, hence why there was less sweat there. That's what you want with a saddle so unnecessary stress isn't inflicted on the delicate spine. :) xx
