Saddle fitter in Huddersfield?

I use a lady called Jenny, who comes from York way, and will do Wakefield Huddersfield area. She does made to measure and carries a large stock of different makes, her number is.......... 07803300443 :)

Throstles Nest (in Silkstone,Barnsley) have a huge selection of second hand saddles for reasonable prices. You can either box up to them, or he will come and fit it at your yard for a small fee i think :)

Thanks, I'll give Hey Farm a ring, they aren't far from where I am, I didn't realise they did saddle fitting, I'd prefer them to come to me though!

Does anyone know what the going rate for a reasonably decent but not too flashy second hand gp saddle is? I don't want to pay over the odds!

I have heard good things about Hey Farm, although a friend of mine had a lot of problems with Throstle Nest, had to send back x2 saddles before getting one that fitted correctly?!

Some of his second hand leather saddles start from around 150.00 onwards, most well known English ones start at around 250.00 but it depends on the condition and age, for example an Ideal in good condition will be around 350.00 but remember to bid him down, set yourself a lower price so you can have a bit to play around with.
A lot of his saddles need a good clean, if your not bothered about the odd water mark or scuffle you'll pick a cheapy up.

I've also heard bad things about TN!

I use a lovely lady called Sam, she charged me £25 when she came out to my horse. She brought a large selection of saddles for me to try, and came out several times to me that week and only charged me one call out fee (£25).
None of the saddles are hers, she sells the saddles (mainly second hand) for shops such as Tack and Turnout, Moody Mares, etc so she doesn't push you to buy a saddle/more expensive saddle that I have experienced with other fitters.
She took my Barnsby show saddle in part exchange against a Barnsby GP.
Where in Hudds are you based?

I have had issues with HF when it came to buying a saddle and arranging a fitting, I would recommend TN though they are very professional.

I have had several saddles from Throstle Nest Saddlery over the years and never had a problem. David Baxter only comes out to fit new ones, not used. If you can get there ring and book in, they have lots of quality clean second hand ones in. If you go on a Mon or Thurs the saddler is on site to adjust any if necessary. Ive always been happy with the service from them.

Echo this. As a saddlery I would definately recommend them but would never allow them to fit a saddle.
I've never heard a bad thing about Hey Farms saddle fitting and they wont sell you a saddle that doesnt fit. The shop on the other hand......
