Hi,
I live on the shropshire powys, border nr oswestry and am looking for a local saddle fitter.

They must ideally stock second hand saddles as i may need to change my current saddle on a budget.

All thoughts appreciated
 
Hi my friends mum is a saddle fitter, she owns Stoneyford Saddlery at Anns Croft, just outside shrewsbury, she has second hand saddles and takes them as px the number is 01743 860840 :)
 
Alison Lewis - The White House, Meifod (buys, sells, fits etc)

Peter Oaks - Newtown (as above)

Andy Wheals, Whitchurch - Whitchurch (master saddler but not sure if he sells?)

If you look at the Society of Master Saddlers website it has a map that shows who is available in your location.

just remember a master saddler might only be a maker or fitter. Presume you want fitter more than maker! I made this mistake years ago and the guy was a MS at making only, BUT fitted them too (badly)
 
The best one in this area is, I think, Andy Wheals. He fits and I think he does made to measure but doesn't buy or sell second hand.

Personally wouldn't use the other two - PM me if you like as I probably shouldn't post what I think on open forum!
 
Yes - I use Andy to check my saddles twice a year and totally recommend. He will sell you a made to measure saddle so maybe not what you want, but can also supply Wintecs and occasionally has saddles for sale on his website www.thesaddleman.co.uk

Alison Lewis has a varied reputation - some love and some hate!! However she always has a good selection of 2nd hand saddles for sale and will also part ex.

Carol Cattle (google for website) also has a good selection of 2nd hand saddles and will let you take them away to trial - however I don't think she is a qualified fitter.

Peter is a hunting friend of mine but have not had a saddle fited by him.

I think Andy only supplies Thorowgood rather than Wintec..

Carol Cattle is fab - doesn't fit saddles (and tells you that straight away) but has a fantastic range of 2nd hand saddles. It's like Aladdin's Cave :D
